Watercolour & Gouache Illustration Course
A 6-Session Journey from First Marks to Your Own Illustrated Style
Explore watercolour and gouache through a practical, progressive 6-session illustration course designed for beginners and developing artists.
You’ll learn how to combine transparent watercolour, opaque gouache, drawing, colour, texture, and composition to create expressive illustrations with personality. Rather than focusing on realistic painting or reproducing a specific style, the course is built around observation, simplification, experimentation, and visual storytelling.
Each session introduces new techniques while building on what you've learned before, gradually taking you from material exploration and basic exercises to developing your own finished illustrations.
No previous experience is required.

Client Reviews
“Anna was a wonderful teacher, and we were lucky enough to have a beautiful day. I had fun doing my first urban sketch! Anna had all the materials we needed and gave gentle and helpful guidance. I would definitely study with her again, and I hope to develop my urban sketching skills!”
— Aegina Barnes
“We had a great time, learned a lot from the experience and draw/painted two very nice sketches from Praça do Comércio. We're eager to keep practicing with all the tips and instructions that Anna gave us. Recommend!”
— Giovanna Capeletto
“I had a wonderful time taking this painting class with Anna Matos. She was a great teacher: knowledgeable, clear and patient. She took me through the different steps of urban sketching: drawing fast with pencil, coloring with watercolors and then using the thin marker for definition and voilá! I got a beautiful painting and a great souvenir of my trip to Lisbon, Portugal.”
